LAHORE:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday ordered for a committee to be constituted to review the process of establishment of universities under the public-private partnership mode in the Punjab.

“The chief minister has taken notice of irregularities in the establishment of sub-campuses of public sector universities in the province as public-private partnerships. He has constituted a high-level committee to review the matter," a spokesman for Higher Education Department said.

He said no new sub-campus would be opened in the province until the committee finalised its recommendations.

The spokesman said all public sector universities in the Punjab had been directed not to sign agreements with private investors in the public-private partnership model.

He said the Finance Department had emphasised technical, financial and legal due diligence.
