
A muezzin of Shah Faisal mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Qari Muhammad Usman, 40, was shot dead near Disco Bakery. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police said the deceased was on his way to teach Quran to his student in the same neighbourhood when at least two men on a motorcycle shot and killed him. SHO Irfan Ahmed said the deceased was shot at least twice. The incident may be linked to the ongoing sectarian killings, said SHO Ahmed. Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat claimed Qari Usman was affiliated with the organisation.
In Orangi Town, Zeeshan Ali, 28, son of Ahmed Ali, was shot dead in the Data Nagar area. In Gulshan-e-Iqbal. A woman, identified as Zara, wife of Shamim Haider, was shot dead inside her house in Block 13-D. Police officials said the deceased, a mother of two children, was shot and killed by her husband over some family dispute. The police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him.
Meanwhile, the bodies of a woman and a boy were found near a graveyard in Baldia Town’s Ittehad Town. The deceased have yet to be identified, said the police, adding the bodies were at least eight days old.
In Lyari, a young man was shot dead after being kidnapped from Gul Muhammad Lane in Kalakot - the same area where a grenade attack took place. According to the police, armed gangsters threw the blindfolded body of a young man near the Lyari Post Office. The deceased’s hands and legs were also tied with ropes. Shortly after this incident, armed gangsters lobbed a hand grenade in the same area and escaped. As a result, 35-year-old Humaira, wife of Rafiq Baloch, her two-year-old son, Ahmed Ali and three more children who were passing by — 10-year-old Ismail, five-year-old Shahzad, and six-year-old Muhammad Usman — were wounded.
