LAHORE:

An inspection team raided a Punjab University hostel on Tuesday morning and handed over to police 16 illegal residents found from the rooms of the office-bearers of the student wing of a political party.

The team of Punjab University Hall Council – consisting of senior teachers, warden and superintendent led by Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Muhammad Akhter – checked the rooms and the record of the hostel and nabbed former Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) nazims, present activists and non-student elements from various rooms residing under the shelter of Jamiat.

Later, the police released all the 16 illegal residents.

“No FIR was lodged,” a policeman said.
