KARACHI: Two men were found dead from Lyari while the law enforcers claimed that around one-and-a-half dozen more suspected target killers including a policeman have been caught during ongoing targeted raids on Sunday.

The bodies of two abducted men were found from different parts of Lyari - Gulistan Colony and Rangi Wara- that falls under the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station. One of the bodies was later identified as 35-year-old sweetshop owner Ashfaq Ahmed, while the other body of a 15-year-old has yet to be identified. SHO Sajjad Mangi said the victims were tortured and dumped after they were kidnapped. The kidnappers are suspected to be associated with the notorious gangster, Baba Ladla, he said. Both the victims were killed over suspicion of being an informant of the opponent gang. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for autopsy.

The Mehmoodabad police claimed arresting two suspects including a policeman for his alleged involvement in target killings. The arrests were made when Mehmoodabad police conducted a raid near Kala Pul and Akhtar Colony. According to SHO Mohammad Sarwar, the accused policeman Wajid Hussain, posted to the Boat Basin police station, was involved in the target killing of an ex-policeman Rafaqat while the other accused, Tahir, was involved in the target killing of a local restaurant owner, Abdullah Saeed.

The officer said the arrested cop and Rafaqat were relatives of each other and Hussain killed him over a family dispute.
