Police save another day: Three suspected robbers shot, trader recovered

The CPLC in collaboration with the AVCC recovered an abducted trader from a kidnappers’ hideout in Landhi.

Three suspected robbers were shot dead in separate encounters while an abducted trader was recovered through a joint venture by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) from the city’s outskirts on Saturday.


The first encounter took place in Bangoria Goth within the limits of Azizabad police station. During routine snap-checking, the police stopped three armed men riding a motorcycle, but they opened fire at the law enforcers and tried to escape. The police retaliated and killed one suspect, while two of his companions escaped.

Another suspected robber was killed in Orangi Town within Mominabad police station limits. A shopkeeper, Noor Islam, and a passerby, Shakeel, were wounded in the crossfire.

In another incident, the police near Golimar Chowrangi killed another suspected robber.

The CPLC in collaboration with the AVCC recovered an abducted trader from a kidnappers’ hideout in Landhi. According to officials, Amjad was kidnapped by unidentified men from Gulistan-e-Jauhar on November 20. The kidnappers had made ransom calls to the family demanding Rs50 million for his release, the police said. The family and the kidnappers agreed on Rs2 million. Through technical assistance, the CPLC traced the location of the hideout. After an exchange of fire, the kidnappers managed to escape while the kidnappee was recovered safely.
