Short circuit: Three brothers killed in fire at hospital residence

Rescue 1122 officials said an electric short circuit had caused the fire.

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Three brothers were killed when a fire broke out at the residential quarters of a hospital in Rahim Yar Khan on Friday night.

Rescue 1122 officials said Muhammad Rafiq, an employee at Shaikh Zayed Medical College, was asleep with his three sons, Jawad, 16, Hamid, 13 and Safian, 12 when a fire broke out in their quarter at the hospital. Rescuers said the family was taken to a hospital where Jawad, Hamid and Safian succumbed to their injuries.

Rescue 1122 officials said an electric short circuit had caused the fire.

They said another resident at the hospital’s quarters, Yousuf, 8, was also burnt in the fire. Rescue 1122 officials said Yousuf was also taken to a hospital where his condition was reported to be critical.
