Heinous crime: LHC takes notice of girl’s rape

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday took notice of a press report regarding a girl who had been assaulted in Khanpur. The Rahim Yar Khan district and sessions judge has been directed to probe the matter and submit a report.


According to the press report, a woman and her daughter, residents of Matti Chatta, Lodhran, went to Khanpur to visit some relatives. Unidentified men kidnapped the girl at around 4am and took her to an unknown location where they raped her. They later left her in a deserted place and fled.

The police received a phone call about the girl and they took her to Khanpur Tehsil Hospital. Doctors there referred her to Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, due to her critical condition.

Khanpur City police registered a case on the victim’s mother’s complaint and have taken Rahim Bux, Liaquat and Mumtaz into custody for interrogation.
