House robbery: Robber shot dead by accomplice in friendly fire

A robber was shot dead on Monday in firing during a house robbery in Hasilpur.


The owner of the house, Muhammad Hanif Rehmani, told Qaimpur police that 10 armed men broke into his house Jamalpur at 2am. He said they held his family hostage and took Rs255,000 and 40 grams of gold jewellery.

Rehmani said he and his brother Muhammad Nawaz started shouting for help. He said three of the men started firing in the air to intimidate the family, but ended up hitting one of their accomplices, who died on the spot.

He said some of the men carried their deceased accomplice, while others carried the loot and fled. Rehmani said the robbers had been calling the deceased man by the name Iqbal. He said the rest of the names he remembered were Sajid, Sajjad, Ishaq, Bashir, Ishaq and Fayyaz. Three of the men were unidentified.

Police said they were looking for the suspects.
