Dispelling media reports of an army operation in Balochistan, the DG ISPR said that security forces are committed to the relief operation despite repeated attacks by miscreants on troops.
“The security forces have exercised utmost restraint, despite losing six soldiers to IED attacks and fire raids, and having another 12 soldiers injured,” General Bajwa said, reiterating that there was no military operation taking place in the two districts.
The military has claimed that its forces busy in relief operations and providing aid to earthquake victims near militant strongholds have come under frequent attacks.
Background
The first earthquake had hit Balochistan on September 24, killing at least 350 people and injuring hundreds more.
Another 7.2-magnitude quake furthered the damage when it struck the area on September 28.
A senior FC officer had said that most of the stricken places in Awaran are highly risky areas for relief workers and provincial functionaries as it is a hub of Baloch nationalist militants.
Mashkay – a sub-district of Awaran – has been under the militant command of nationalist guerrilla commander, Dr Allah Nazar who has been confronting the FC and Pakistan Army for a long time.

@ali ahmed:
Mukhti Bhani was local, Army is Punjabi. What was Punjabi Army doing killing Bengalis over in Bengal? Then why complain if people try to defend themselves like Baluchis are doing now?
@Habib Magsi I see you claim to speak on behalf of the Baloch. I suppose Mir Jaffar once also claimed to speak for all of Bengal.
I am surprised with this statement of DG ISPR if the rented killers are killing our people and soldiers they must be killed-remember one thing " gun answer the gun " first - then anything else.God has created an opportunity so make best use of this relief and proper search and sweeping is must, not need to be aliens this is our country and jokers be sorted out,lot of benefit of doubt given. No aid worker from any country or own NGOs be their.
Yeah right and I am king of England.
@ Baloch Balakot is in Hazara Division of KP. Unlike the fluid situation in other parts of KP, Hazara Division has remained peaceful. Hence there is no comparison between Balakot and Arwan in the restive Province of Balochistan. the attacks on security forces during relief activities and looting of relief goods convoys may be the reason that International Humanitarian Organisations are not participating in the relief work in Arwan.

@M. Emad....Army was not only involved in ‘disappeared’ ...mukti bhani was also involved in those crime....my uncle Dr. in East pakistan railway was kidnapped by mukti bhani.....and he disappeared with out any trace...
...but what else they can do????...they are not even capable of shedding crocodile tears let alone not disrupting relief efforts.
....the real misery of Balochistan is not the natural calamities but these selfish, clannish, marauder Sardars...good for nothing.
Stop paying attention to them, waste of time.
regards,
military operation is must to destroy Indian terrorists. Baloch will support army as always
One of the favorate propaganda of Pakistan Army to world press after 25 March 1971 Genocidal Operation in East Pakistan was: 'No military operation in East Pakistan -- Army in Southern part of the Province for relief efforts only' (coastal areas destroyed in November 1970 great cyclone).
Pakistan Army moved into southern coastal districts around mid-April (after sopressing rebels in other districts). Several ex-ministers/ MPs/MPAs (of ex-national/provintial assembly), several CSP DCs/SDOs (district/sub-district Civil Administration heads), SP/DSP (district/sub-district Police heads) and other district high officials were 'disappeared' by end of April. Till today nobody knows their whereabouts.
Awaran and othe Balochistan district officials (if ethnic Baloch) and interested others are suggested to read the Pakistan Army operations in Southern East Pakistan (coastal Bangladesh) in Aptil-May 1971 from authentic sources.
Presence of unwanted army in area of natives itself is military operation?
Why not let UN and other aid agencies into the region then? Why play with peoples lives?
PAK ARMY we are proud of you
By relief they mean relief for military establishment by cleaning area of Balouch fighters.
Why army and FC have been refusing to allow the international aid organizations which played a big role in relief and rehabilitation efforts during earthquakes in Balakot, Islamabad etc? Why are they still insisting that all aid should be channelled through them? They have so messed up in Balochistan (as highlighted in several UN and Human Rights Council reports) that they want to hide it from rest of Pakistan and the world. ET and BBC Urdu seem to be the only media outlets who actually visited the area and reported misadventures of security forces. Unfortunately most of Pakistanis don't read these and only listen to big-mouth private channels making biased reports while sitting in their air-conditioned offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
