LAHORE:

Hundreds of people visited recreational parks and other picnic spots on Saturday, the day after Eid holidays ended.

The most popular destinations appeared to be the Lahore Museum, Lawrence Garden, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park, Minto Park, Shalamar Bagh, Lahore Fort and the Lahore Zoo.

Several groups of men were also seen holding barbecue parties in various parks and picnic spots across the city.

Very little traffic was observed on the streets and children were seen playing cricket on, usually, busy roads.

The Lahore Zoo seemed to be a favourite among children. “My kids nagged me all morning to bring them here,” said a parent. He said that watching animals at the zoo was a favourite pastime of his children. “I had a great day at the zoo,” a five-year-old said, “Eid is not over yet!”

Police and traffic officials were deployed outside most parks to provide security and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
