LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sought comments from the Nawankot SHO by October 23 in a petition seeking the registration of a case against three police officials and a parking ticket collector who allegedly took away Rs15,000 and two mobile phones from the petitioner at gun-point.

Petitioner Muhammad Arshad said that he had parked his motorcycle at Data Darbar’s parking stand for a few days as he had to go to Multan for some work. He returned a day before Eid and went to pick up his motorcycle from the parking lot. Arshad said that Jameel, who ran the parking lot, demanded Rs200 as parking fee because “it was Chand Raat”. They got into an argument and, Arshad said, some of Jameel’s friends in the police were summoned. He said they beat him up and took out pistols. They snatched Rs15,000 and two mobile phones from him and threatened to kill him if he asked for it back, said Arshad.

He said that he did ask them for his money and phones but they refused. He then went to the police but they did not register a case. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against policeman Tanveer, two unidentified men and Jameel.
