Local holiday: By-election for PP-72 today

According to ECP date, there are 141,049 registered voters in PP-72; 78,565 male and 62,484 female.

By-elections in PP-72, Faisalabad-XXII, will be held on Monday (today).


The seat fell vacant when Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Khwaja Muhammad Islam’s degree did not receive the Higher Education Commission authentication. He had won the seat in the May 11 elections. A Faisalabad district and session judge is hearing a fake degree case against Islam.

The PML-N has fielded Khawaja Muhammad Liaqat, Islam’s brother, against Sheikh Khurram Shehzad, a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate and Rana Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Several independent candidates are also running.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan date, there are 141,049 registered voters in PP-72; 78,565 male and 62,484 female.

The ECP has established 125 polling stations and 353 polling booths.

The ECP has also assigned 893 officials for election duty in the constituency; 125 presiding officers, 353 assistant presiding officers, 353 polling officers and 62 Naib Qasid.

The city government has announced a local holiday.
