LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Friday suspended an order by an election tribunal to recount votes in PP-90 Toba Tek Singh.

Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Muhammad Rafiq, who is the returned candidate from the constituency, had challenged the order of the election tribunal through a writ petition.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said that the tribunal had ordered a recount on an appeal filed by Saeed Ahmad Saeedi, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate, without hearing him.

He said he had been served no notice by the tribunal. He said he was out of the country when the order was passed.

The petitioner prayed to the court to set aside the order for being unfair.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan suspended the impugned order and issued notices to all the candidates from the constituency including Saeedi for October 9.
