The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate-II annual examinations, for pre-medical and pre-engineering groups, were announced in Sukkur on Saturday. With an overall passing percentage of 84.49 for the pre-medical group and 82.11 per cent for the pre-engineering group, students generally fared well in the exams this year.
Clinching the three top positions, girls outshone boys in the medical group. Kashaf Zaheer of the Sindh Children Academy, Khairpur, secured first position with 967 marks and was accorded the A-1 grade. Tehreem of the Government Girls Degree College, Sukkur, received the second position with 964 marks while the third position was bagged by Radheeka of Iqra Public Higher Secondary School, Gamat with 960 marks. A total of 12,891 candidates appeared for the exams in the group, out of which 729 were accorded the A-1 grade, 1,645 received an A grade, 3,745 got a B grade, 4,227 secured C grade while 547 managed to pass with a D grade. The total number of successful candidates was 10,892 while 1,852 failed to clear the exams. The results of 147 candidates were withheld due to various reasons. Meanwhile, the boys stole the limelight in the pre-engineering group by securing all top three positions.
According to the official results’ gazette, Hammad Bashir of the Government Islamia Science College, Sukkur, secured the first position, scoring 976 marks and was accorded the A-1 grade. Zubair Ahmed of Evershine Higher Secondary School, Ranipur, secured the second position with 972 marks while the third position was jointly bagged by Naeem Akhtar of Evershine Higher Secondary School, Ranipur and Asif Nawaz of Mazhar Muslim Model School, Ranipur, who both scored 955 marks apiece.
A total of 13,707 candidates appeared for the pre-engineering group examinations, out of which 479 secured the A-1 grade, 1,910 got the A grade, 3,561 received B grade, 4,452 the C grade, 849 managed to get a D grade while four candidates cleared the exams with an E grade.
Around 11,255 candidates passed the exams while 2,332 failed to secure a passing grade. The results of 120 candidates were withheld for undisclosed reasons.
