KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Bodies and Health Syed Owais Muzaffar toured different parts of the city for the third day in a row and expressed concern as to why the roads in the central district were most affected.

He said that it is being investigated if someone had choked the sewerage lines on purpose or if there was any fault in the sewerage pipelines. Investigations, according to him, are under way to determine the truth. The minister added that he was informed by an official in a meeting with the chief minister that bags filled with garbage were found dumped in the sewerage lines in Karachi and Hyderabad.

Talking to reporters after visiting Korangi, Landhi, Quaidabad, Malir and other areas of the city Muzaffar expressed deep concern over the consequences of the rain in the central district of Karachi.

Conspiracy Feared: Garbage bags blocked sewerage lines

Is this the namaloom afraad who did this ? Given that the general public lack the civic sense to properly dispose off their rubbish and the indiscriminate use of plastic bags, I am not surprised that sewer lines are blocked.

Provincial governments should ban plastic bags immediately or impose a tax on them so people refrain from using them.

Sabotage or foul play is imaginable. Couldn't the Right Honourable Minister ask some of his underlings to schedule an inspection of the sewerage system before the rains came pouring down to flood the roadnetwork? . Naturally that would have ruled out any high profile photo-op.
