ISLAMABAD:

Imtiaz Ahmed, alias Taji Khokhar, a suspect in the murder of a young man, withdrew his pre-arrest bail application on Friday.

According to the police, he is allegedly involved in the murder of Khalid Farooq, a resident of Dhoke Gangal. His counsel Advocate Sardar Ishaq who withdrew his client’s pre-arrest bail application stated that Imtiaz was already in custody for another murder.

The Dhoke Gangal murder case is pending before Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Muhammad Azam Khan.

The Koral police had registered a first information report (FIR) against four suspects, Imtiaz, Imran Shahzad, Sajid Hussain and Muhammad Tanveer for killing Farooq under Section 302. They were arrested and produced before the court, but Imtiaz had filed for pre-arrest bail. Later on July 27, he was arrested by the Rawalpindi police in another murder case and an anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent him on judicial remand for two weeks.

Earlier, on June 17, the court had issued arrest warrants for Imtiaz and other suspects. According to the FIR, Imtiaz had tried to occupy Farooq’s land and when he resisted the attempt, Imtiaz and his accomplices killed him. Farooq had been living with his family in Dhoke Gangal since 1980.

Imtiaz is the brother of former NA deputy speaker Nawaz Khokhar and uncle of former PM’s adviser on human rights Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.
