Assaulting officials: Suspects injured by police firing

A search operation was launched but the suspects were not apprehended till this report was filed.

SHANGLA: Police injured two suspects who assaulted them at a check post in Bisham, Shangla district and escaped. 

Bisham police official Sher Ali said around 8am on Monday, two constables on duty at Pandiyar on the Karakoram Highway signalled a van to stop for a check. However, the two passengers refused.

Ali added one of the men picked up a stone and threw it at a constable while the second passenger overpowered the other constable and roughed up him up. Subsequently both suspects ran towards the nearby mountains.

“Police chased and fired at them. Though they were injured, the two suspects escaped,” said Ali.

A search operation was launched but the suspects were not apprehended till this report was filed.
