Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a statement, on Thursday, that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain’s interrogation is being carried out according to UK laws, Express News reported.
Recently, on June 20, as part of their investigation on the Imran Farooq murder case, Scotland Yard had raided Hussain’s London house and some material was seized from his residence.
Following this Altaf Hussain resigned as party head on June 30, voluntarily handing over party’s authority and responsibilities to the Rabita Committee, only to take back the decision of resignation few hours later on request of his party workers.
The interrogation is being carried out in London and not in Pakistan but the Pakistani government is being kept informed, Chaudhry Nisar added.
Commenting on other issues faced by the country, Nisar said to resolve the matters concerning namaloom afrad, Aafia Siddiqui and terrorism three task forces will submit their reports in two weeks.
In June, British police arrested 52-year-old Iftikhar Hussain at Heathrow Airport and took him to the West London police station as part of the investigation process.
He also expressed concern over the situation in Egypt and said that Egyptian people should be given a chance to choose their own government.

As we are talking about mohajirs, i find a very curious failure in identity of MQM. What about Mohajirs from Indian Punjab, who nodoubt suffered great many attrocities. And while we are at it, mentioning Muhajirs, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz sharif's ancestors were Mohajirs too, from indian Punjab. Why only MQM started for mohajirs of Karachi and Sindh? But not Punjabi Mohajirs from india? MQM doesnt even represent 25% of total mohajirs in pakistan.

Here we are talking about "generally accepted" norm, and that is people who migrated from India call themselves mohajirs( a lot many times here it has been explained why we started calling ourselves mohajirs, but you seem to be ignorant of it) In USA, Uk, or any developed country there are no such thing as are here. We are taught from class one who is sindhi who is punjabi. For karachiite that percentage of quota and for rest that percentage of quota. By the way in view of your skewed definition of 'Muhajir' there are a lot of politicians who have their forefathers from India or British India (that included Pakistan). Your point of MQM getting ministries is dependent on the share given in collation. Do you really think that with MQM's present approach this will change. Please don't distort History. Someone has rightly said above something about being 'delusional'.
Also by your definition my parents too came from India but they never consider themselves Immigrants and are just Pakistanis settled in Karachi. Hypothetically just think if you were in America/ UK / elsewhere creating such divisions what would happen?

I totally agree with you. This is the problem with us who are living in Karachi and Hyderabad. All of my family members who migrated from UP and settled in Punjab easily intermingled in the society. Now most of them name themselves as a Punjabi. On the other hand those family members of mine, who opted for Karachi, including my family, call themselves Mohajir. I am also very much confused with this terminology. I and my father never sat a foot in India, but we call ourselves Mohajir. My Taaya-jan lives in Lahore but he calls himself Punjabi. Tho brothers but different ethnicity? Is this possible? What I have learnt is that it is just a political term which was exploited by MQM in 1980s. On the other hand our government did not take any measures to settle this issue that only the first generation who migrated to Pakistan were Mohajireen. The next generation should have been associated with the ethnicity on the basis of the domicile held. It was a very simple issue, but was exploited and used for ulterior motives by MQM and the like minded political organizations.

Readers/ Bloggers The whole notion, principle, ideology of MQM is skewed. First of all how can one be a Muhajir ( Immigrant) if they have not migrated. No body remains a Muhajir after 66 years. The party leaders talk about one specific group of people ( ie an offspring who migrated from India only and settled in Karachi/ Hyderabad) If that is the case then why not called indian or hindustani muhajir. I only say this because we have Afghan Muhajirs, Bengali Muhajirs, some Central Russian Muhajirs etc
Also if MQM is a party of Muhajirs then why called as Mutahidda Qaumi Movement. They said that they moving away from that agenda. They said they will represent middle class and lower middle class but why plead for one ethnic group.Probably to seek permission in the elections

altaf hussain and MQM are the only politician and party who have the guts to stand upto these mullahs and taliban and ISI. They are the only reason Karachi is safe from these animals. Unfortunately, these animals have their apologists in the government and PTI who are trying their best to degrade MQM. They failed in the election and MQM won with a thumping majority. This is hard for them to swallow that muhajirs voted for muhajirs.
With the type of justice handed down to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui so far I do not expect the three reports to be of much benefit. She was held incommunicado for five years without any adequate explanation, and undoubtedly tortured, because, if Gitmo is any example, that is what the Americans do best other than invading and bombing countries they disagree with. So far Dr. Siddiqui has not been charged with terrorism. The best the Americans have been able to come up with is that this diminutive women attacked her guards after she had been arrested. As a result Dr. Siddiqui was shipped to New York for a show trial and sentenced to 86 years in prison by a hand picked Judge and defence. This was justice American style. She was accused of attempting to shoot her interrogators, but no forensic or other evidence was produced other than a statement by one of her torturers in Afghanistan. It is worth noting that Mr. Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor shot and killed two men in Lahore, and to my knowledge is a free man in the US. Obviously the Americans have double standards. I sincerely hope I do not have to depend on the Pakistan/Afghan/US justice systems all of whom were involved in the Dr. Siddiqui case.
