Cracker: Man injured in explosion outside car showroom

A passerby, who has yet to be identified, was injured and was later released after receiving medical attention.

KARACHI: A man was injured when a low-intensity explosive went off near Qayyumabad area on Tuesday night.

Following the explosion, extra contingent of law enforcers reached the site and cordoned off the entire locality.

Police officials per their initial investigations said that at least two armed men riding a motorcycle threw a cracker outside the car showroom situated near Qayyumabad round-about, however, the assailants managed to escape.

A passerby, who has yet to be identified, was injured and was later released after receiving medical attention at a private hospital.

Police officials said that the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. However, they hinted that the extortion may be a possible motive. Further investigations into the attack are underway.
