KARACHI:

The parking plaza on Preedy Street in Saddar will be open from July 5, the commissioner decided at a meeting on Friday.

Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was chairing a divisional coordination committee meeting with 25 federal, provincial and local departments, including the cantonment boards. The committee decided to open the plaza to avoid the rush of buyers and vehicles in the month of Ramazan. They decided that all parking plazas will be made after consulting the traffic police, while no new building plan would be approved without an NOC. The meeting reviewed contingency plans for the monsoon season to prepare for draining out rainwater. The commissioner directed his deputies from all five districts to look into the matter of removing garbage stuck on roads because of floods.

Other matters such as measures against dengue spread, improving siren system of civil defence, beefing up security in commercial areas, mosques, seminaries and imambargahs were also discussed.
