Protesting killings: MQM MNAs walk out of National Assembly session

ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged a walkout on Wednesday from the National Assembly, strongly protesting the ongoing targeted killing and the authorities’ failure to tackle the problem.

The MQM MNAs returned to the house after registering the protest.

Lately, activists of the MQM have been targeted in politically-motivated target killings in Karachi. Many party workers have been abducted, tortured and killed, while the law enforcing agencies have failed to bring an end to the ongoing extrajudicial killings.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed, on Tuesday, the Sindh police’s law officer to appear before the judges on June 28 and bring along a “complete record” of the targeted killings taking place in Karachi.

Earlier on June 14, MQM had observed a day of mourning to protest against the abductions and killings of its workers and supporters.

MQM Rabita committee Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had said that their workers were either victims of targeted killings or were being attacked by those involved in the Lyari gang war.

He also claimed that security agencies and law enforcement personnel were involved in the abduction of their workers.
