Personal dispute: Police official gunned down

CHARSADDA: A police constable was gunned down by his adversaries in Charsadda in the early hours of Monday morning.

Sardheri Police official Muhammad Ibrar said he heard the sound of shots being fired within the limits of Sardheri police station at around 5am. The rider squad along with other police officials rushed outside and reported that gunmen on motorbikes opened fire at police constable Abbas Ali and his brother Sajjad Ali, killing Abbas on the spot. The police apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Adil, while the other managed to escape.

Police officials added Sajjad Ali, a resident of Gul Jan Kallay, filed a report against Adil, a resident of Masal Kallay, stating he and his brother were on their way to Peshawar when Adil, along with an accomplice, intercepted them on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire, killing his brother while he narrowly escaped. The motive behind the shooting was said to be a personal dispute.

Abbas Ali was stationed in Peshawar and was coming for duty when he was killed, the official added. A case has been filed against the culprits and an investigation is underway.
