KARACHI:

On yet another surprise visit to Liaquatabad police station on Monday, the newly elected chief minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, suspended the SHO.

MPA Sharjeel Memon and AIG Iqbal Mehmood were part of his entourage. Shah reviewed the First Information Reports (FIR) and inquired about crime rates in the area over his visit.

SSP Amir Farooqui reached the station as soon as he found out about his visit and briefed the CM about police performance and crime rates.

Shah expressed his anger over the delays in the registration of FIRs. “The cases of fighting, robberies and mobile phone snatchings are not reported in the FIR book. Does that mean crimes do not occur in Liaquatabad police station?,” he asked the SSP.

Despite reports that the CM supended Liaquatabad SHO Inspector Shakeel Sherwani, the officer was working at his post until last reports.

What is the point of suspension. Incopetent and corrupt officials should be dismissed from service.
