“This is our [his and Basu’s] second film together. It’s a detective film,” said the 30-year-old, confirming the news. The film is set to go on floors next year. Basu has also written the script.
Besides these two projects, the actor has two more films with Basu, Bombay Velvet and a biopic on late legendary singer-composer Kishore Kumar. But the biopic has been shelved for some time.
In a very short time, Ranbir has impressed audiences with his acting skills and he gives credit to his late legendary grandfather Raj Kapoor for his success.
“I am standing here just because of Raj Kapoor. He showed me the way,” said Ranbir, when asked to share some memory of the veteran actor, whose 25th death anniversary falls on June 2.
Kapoor, known as the Showman of the Indian cinema, proved his mettle with his work in Awara, Shree 420 and Mera Naam Joker. The winner of two National Awards, nine Filmfare Awards and many other awards and recognitions, he gave a strong base to the Indian cinema.
He passed away on June 2 in 1988. “I hope he would be smiling at me watching me in the films that I am doing and is proud of me,” said Ranbir, who has carved a niche for himself in his five-year career with films like Raajneeti, Wake Up Sid! and Rockstar among others.
