
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Muzafati Committee member, Ghulam Haider, 35, son of Muhammad Rahim Sindhi, was shot dead by armed men near Sacchal Goth. Police officials said that the deceased was employed as a security guard at a petrol pump in the area. SHO Munir Marwat told The Express Tribune that unidentified men, in a black-coloured Toyota Corrolla, opened fire at the victim, killing him on the spot. They added that the motive behind the killing could be political.
A fruit vendor, 24-year-old Asif Akbar, was shot dead in Shah Faisal Chowk, Orangi Town. According to reports, the deceased was affiliated with the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), however, DSP Pervez Akhtar told The Express Tribune that the victim was not linked with any religious or political organisation.

He added that the deceased bore a marked resemblance to an ASWJ worker, Nadeem, who was also a resident of the same area and the killing could be a case of mistaken identity. Further investigation is underway.
A young man was found dead near Lal Masjid in Gulbahar. The body of the deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. Police officials said that the motive behind the killing could only be ascertained after identification of the victim.
The body of another young man, who has yet to be identified, was found in Lines Area. Police officials said that the victim was shot multiple times and initial investigation suggested that the victim had been kidnapped prior to his murder.
Meanwhile, about 14 suspects were taken into custody during targeted operations conducted by Rangers in different parts of the city. According to Rangers officials, the detained included members of banned outfits and sectarian organisations. The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
