MUZAFFARABAD:

Three people were killed after being struck by lightening near Muzaffarabad on Sunday.

Police said a shepherd and his two sons were herding their cattle heads when they were struck by lightening at a forest in Jhelum Valley, some 30 kilometres from Muzaffarabad. As a result, the three men and their 12 cattle heads were killed on the spot. Earlier on Saturday, two men drowned in Jhelum River near Ambore Kashmiri Refugees Camp. Police said the heavy flow of the river water was a hurdle for rescue teams to fish out the bodies. The upper reaches of Azad Kashmir were lashed with heavy rains since Saturday evening. Due to the downpour, the water levels of Neelum River and Jehlum River went up from five to seven feet. However, both the rivers are flowing in normal flood level, said meteorological officials here.
