KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to seal the delimitation records of seven constituencies in Naushahro Feroze.

SHC also ordered ECP to produce the delimitation records before the court. The delimitation records pertain to five provincial assembly and two national assembly constituencies of Naushahro Feroze.

The petitioner, Mureed Ali Shah submitted that following the order of SHC for delimitation of constituencies, the ECP had not sent an official notification about it.

Shah said that ECP committee heard the public and representatives of political parties but turned a deaf ear to objections raised by the petitioner.

The petitioner argued that records pertaining to delimitation including public opinion might be tampered with if the records are not sealed.

Consequently, a division bench of SHC headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar directed ECP to seal the records and file it in court so that they can be kept in safe custody.
