LAHORE:

Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Wednesday sought comments from the Sabzazar SHO by May 18 on a petition against a woman who allegedly thrashed her mother-in-law.

The petition was filed by her husband Waqarul Hassan. He submitted that his wife, Ruqayya Bibi had disrespected his mother. A few days ago, he said, he received a phone call at work from a neighbour that his wife had thrashed his mother and left the house. When he went home, he said, he found out that his wife had gone to live with her brothers Umair and Usman. She had also taken 26 tolas of gold jewellery, he said. He said he had gone to the police to register a complaint against Usman, Umair and his wife, but was turned away. He prayed the court to direct the police to register a case.
