LAHORE:

The global body for professional accountants has launched a new diploma qualification to offer students a better understanding of financial and management accounting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) foundation diploma here at the Pearl Continental Hotel on Thursday, Inter Board Committee Chairman Mohammad Ramazan Achakzai said the diploma was launched after consultations with key stakeholders including employers, ACCA trainers, students and professional accountancy bodies.

He said young people aspired to pursue internationally recognised qualifications in order to land better jobs and career opportunities.

The diploma which begins after matriculation, O’level or intermediate examinations can be completed in 12 months.

ACCA is offering students the option of computer based exams too. In order to complete the diploma, students are required to pass seven out of the 10 exams in the suite.

Based on their ability, students can also choose what level award they wish to take. This, according to ACCA, would not make it compulsory for students to go through the courses in any prescribed order.
