Polio team targeted in K-P, two levies personnel injured

TANK: A team of polio workers was attacked in the area of Gomal near Tank, injuring two levies officials, reported Express News on Friday.

The exact nature of the attack is not known as yet.

Injured levies were rushed to the DHQ Hospital.

Earlier, four people, including two women, opened fire at a polio team, comprising two women and a constable, in Baldia town No 8, Karachi on April 16. No casualties were reported.

In another attempt to disrupt polio workers from doing their jobs, three people, including two women, were injured on April 17, following an attack on polio vaccinators by villagers near Qazi Ahmed town in Benazirabad district.

The attack resulted in injuries sustained by team in-charge Khalid Soomro, Abida Mughal and Fouzia Mughal, when the villagers pelted them with stones as soon as they reached village Hyat Mari for vaccination, said officials.
