Anti-polio drive: Polio vaccinators pelted with stones

On receiving information of incident, taluka hospital polio zonal in-charge rushed to the site along with the police.

NAWABSHAH: Three people, including two women, were injured on Wednesday, following an attack on polio vaccinators by villagers near Qazi Ahmed town in Benazirabad district.

The attack resulted in injuries sustained by team in-charge Khalid Soomro, Abida Mughal and Fouzia Mughal, when the villagers pelted them with stones as soon as they reached village Hyat Mari for vaccination, said officials.

On receiving information of the incident, taluka hospital polio zonal in-charge, Dr Saleh Unar, rushed to the site along with the police. District health officer Dr Bahadur Khan Khero said that 653 polio teams have been constituted to administer drops to more than 272,450 children under the age of five in the district.
