Education Department will observe an Enrolment Awareness Day on April 4 in the district to persuade parents of school-going children to ensure that their children attended school every day.
Officials said this was the first time such a drive had been initiated. Several events, including seminars and awareness walks, will be arranged to mark the day. Officials said parents and children will be encouraged to participate in the walks.
They said the department had set an initial target of enrolling 69,000 children in schools.
