Food and agriculture: Research associations lauded for their role

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (Parc) Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said on Friday that research associations in scientific institutions have been playing an important role in promoting scientific research and development activities to help bring social and economic prosperity in the Pakistani society.

Parc is an autonomous body that promotes agricultural research in the country at both the provincial and the federal level, to provide solutions for agricultural development.

Dr Ahmad was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Pakistan Agriculture Research Scientists Association here. He called upon agricultural scientists to prepare a work plan based on long-, medium- and short-term strategies to move forward for agricultural development in the country. He stressed the need for ensuring collection of quality information for conducting research and influencing policies.
