Violence roundup: Two Baloch men among four bodies found in the city

Police arrest 30 suspects in separate raids, seize arms and ammunition.

KARACHI: Bodies of two Baloch men were found in Karachi on Sunday, adding to the list of names that have been found dead in the city after going missing from Balochistan. 

Abdul Rehman Wazir, 40, and Zahid Hussain, 24, were found dead in bushes near Link Road, Steel Town. According to SHO Haroon Korai, the victims had been shot once in the head and were kidnapped from Panjgur about 20 days ago. Police also found pieces of paper on the bodies which had their names written on them.

The deceased were taken to their hometown in Balochistan to be buried where the police have also been informed about the incident. The case is still being investigated.

The vice-chairperson of Voice for Missing Baloch Persons, Abdul Qadir Baloch, told The Express Tribune that Wazir used to teach at a secondary school and Hussain was a college student. “Finding the bodies of people from Baloch community is becoming a routine matter,” he explained. “We have found 10 bodies of people from the community in the past two-and-a-half months.”

In a separate incident, police found bodies of two men, 26-year-old Syed Mohammad Kashif and 27-year-old Omar Daraz, near the Pirabad police station. Police officials explained that the victims, who didn’t seem to be affiliated with any political party, had been shot multiple times. The motive behind the incident has yet to be determined.

A rickshaw driver, 32-year-old Mushtaq Shah, was shot dead by two armed men on a motorcycle in Chanesar Goth, near Mehmoodabad police station. According to the police, Shah was a resident of the same area and was standing near a rickshaw stand when he was shot.

A man was found dead from his house in Orangi Town. The victim’s family claims that he committed suicide after a personal dispute. The case is still being investigated.

Additionally, the police arrested 15 suspects during a five-hour operation in Pakhtunabad, Manghopir, in which the entire locality was cordoned off. The detainees allegedly belong to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and were shifted to an undisclosed location. The police found 80 weapons and 2,000 rounds of ammunition in their possession. The police also arrested 15 other men during targeted raids in North Karachi and Landhi. Their political affiliations have not been disclosed.
