
Saeen Hajan Shah, 65, was laid to rest on Tuesday morning inside Dargah Ghazi Ghulam Shah in Shikarpur.
He was also the caretaker of the same shrine and was injured in a bomb blast that took place on its premises on February 25. The explosion killed three people and injured over 20 others.
Shah was undergoing treatment at Patel Hospital, Karachi, where he succumbed to the injuries on Monday evening.
Shah’s body arrived in Shikarpur on Tuesday morning and was laid to rest at around 10:30am. The funeral prayers were led by Shia Ulema Council vice president Irshad Ali Shah Naqvi and were attended by thousands of people. MNA Ghous Bux Mahar, Pakistan Peoples Party Shikarpur district president Babul Khan Bhayo also attended his last rites.
Shah was buried next to the grave of his older brother Saeen Chattan Shah inside the tomb of Ghazi Ghulam Shah. He left behind five sons and three daughters and thousands of followers in mourning. At his soyem, Shah’s turban will be passed on to his eldest son, Saeen Sarwar Hussain Shah, who will become the new caretaker of the dargah.
