Bright future: ‘Ujala will end students’ despair’

Solar lamps distributed in Sargodha, Bhalwal, Sillanwali, Shahpur City and Miani.

“Long hours of darkness on account of excessive load-shedding were causing depression among students. Results of a number of brilliant students were affected ...Now they will not have to worry. The Ujala Programme will rescue them out of it,” former Government Girls Pilot High School principal Misbah Nagra said on Sunday.


He was addressing a solar lamps distribution ceremony at the school. The distribution of solar lamps continued for the third day at schools in Sargodha, Bhalwal, Sillanwali, Shahpur City, Miani, Nehang, Pul 11, Joharabad, Groat and Jora Kalan on Sunday. Nagra, also a former Sargodha executive district officer, said that the Ujala Programme aimed at encouraging students to focus on their studies for a better future, both for themselves and the country.

He said the federal government’s policies had driven the country into darkness. The Ujala Programme had brought light back in many students’ lives, he added. He urged the students to focus on their studies. He hoped that they would make full use of the solar lamps.



Senior Headmistress Naseem Akhtar Malik, too, praised the government. She said she was happy to see that students in the rural areas were treated at par with city residents.

PML-N District Vice President Malik Nazir Ahmed Sobhi and Prof Abdur Rasheed Chaudhry also addressed the students and the faculty.

Also on Sunday, students at Government Model High School in Shah Yousaf area received solar energy lamps. The ceremony was presided over by MPA Shehzadi Umarzadi Tiwana.

The distribution ceremony at Government High School Hazoorpura was presided over by MPA Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath. He said the government wanted to equip the youth with latest technology and modern education so that they could rid the country of ignorance, extremism, poverty and unemployment.

A distribution ceremony was also held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Nehang. It was presided over by Principal Mian Munir Ahmed Sial. Muhammad Kamran Khan Sialwi, brother of PML-N MPA Sahibzada Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialwi, was the chief guest.

Similar events were also held at Higher Secondary School Chak-46 South, Government Girls High School Chak-120 South, Government Primary School Number 4, Government Girls High School Padhrar, Government High School Karfi and Government High School Mankera, Government High School Farokah.

Speaking at one of the events, MNA Malik Shakir Bashir Awan said that Rs25 billion had been spent on the Ujala Programme. He said the chief minister wanted to remove all hurdles to education.
