When the chief secretary Raja Mohammad Abbas, home secretary Waseem Ahmed and Sindh IGP Fayyaz Leghari walked into courtroom 1 of the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry on Monday, they had smiles on their faces.
This was probably because they knew Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali was heading the bench instead of Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, a stricter judge who had warned that action may be taken against the three men for failing to comply with court orders.
Their smile were, however, wiped clean when Justice Jamali told them that the contempt application will be heard separately and orders will be passed.
Awami National Party senator Haji Adeel Khan had sought contempt proceedings against Abbas, Ahmed and Leghari over their alleged failure to implement the apex court’s orders in the suo motu case.
