HYDERABAD:

Following the execution of Afzal Guru by the Indian government on Saturday, religious groups in Pakistan have demanded that the country reciprocate by hanging Indian national and death row prisoner Sarabjeet Singh.

Activists of Jamatud Dawa and Tehreek-e-Azadi Kashmir (TAK) protested on Sunday and offered a symbolic Namaz-e-Janaza for Guru. TAK chairperson Hafiz Saifullah Mansoor accused the Pakistani government of inaction, while its Indian counterpart was “killing Kashmiri leaders who were leading a peaceful independence movement”.

Singh, a death row prisoner who was accused of masterminding a series of bomb blasts in Multan, Lahore and Faisalabad in 1990 that killed 14 people, has filed multiple mercy petitions with Pakistani authorities. The last of those petitions was filed in November 2012.

Look up the interview of Afzal Guru on youtube , given to Aaj Tak and NDTV. Without being under any duress, he has acknowledged that he gave full support to the attack. So he is indeed guilty of his crimes! Let's call a spade a spade. It is not pakistan's problem though all parties in pakistan wish to not see the truth.

In the past Nathuram Godse, Satwant Singh, Beant Singh all non muslims were also given death penalty. So please stop playing the Muslim card again. All the accused went through proper trial.

Although pleas for commutation were made by India's prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and by Gandhi's two sons on the grounds that a death sentence would dishonour the legacy of a man opposed to all forms of violence, Godse was hanged a week later. In Afzal's case the kin of the victims felt justice was done.

The Indian government did not hand over the bodies of Satwant Singh Bhaker and Kehar Singh to their next of kin. Their bodies were cremated within Tihar jail. The last wish of both Satwant Singh Bhaker and Kehar Singh was that their ashes be taken to Shri Kiratpur Sahib.[citation needed] Citing concerns about possible violence, the authorities refused to turn even the ashes over to the relatives for use in religious ceremonies. So again stop playing muslim victimhood.
