As the Benazirabad police dawdles over the registration of the FIR against the killing of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Bashir Qureshi, his family has gone to court claiming he was poisoned.
Qureshi’s brother, Maqsood Qureshi, submitted a plea to the Sindh High Court’s Hyderabad circuit bench on Wednesday but the bench has yet to take it up.
Bashir Qureshi died on April 7, 2012, in Sakran taluka of Benazirabad. The family believes, however, that he was poisoned. They have been demanding the police register an FIR against Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the directors-general of Inter-Services Intelligence and Pakistan Rangers.
Maqsood had earlier filed a case in the district and sessions court of Benazirabad, where the third additional district and sessions judge, Inam Ali Kalhoro, ordered the Sakrand police station to register the case in October, 2012.
The new petition, filed by advocate KB Laghari, Maqsood, requests that his statement should be recorded under CrPC 154 against the respondents.
