BAHAWALPUR:

Leaders of YDA (Bahawalpur chapter) Dr Munir Siddiqui, Dr Zulqarnain Haider, Dr Farooq Ahmad and Dr Habibullah addressed a press conference on Wednesday to express solidarity with their colleagues observing hunger strike in Lahore.

They said the strike will result in the fall of the Punjab government.

Dr Ahmad said that doctors could not be pressured or purchased.

He also said that the doctors were not neglecting their duty to the patients.

“Not a single patient has been told off or left untreated,” he added.

He said the hunger strike and protest camps would continue till the doctors’ demands were met.

Dr Siddiqui said that the government leaders’ claims of accepting the YDA demands were baseless and “blatant lies”. Dr Haider, the Bahawalpur chapter vice president, said that the young doctors were united and ready to make the sacrifices their leadership asked for.
