Establishing industries: Japanese firms express interest in Pakistan

Companies want to set up industries in Karachi.

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that over 90 Japanese companies expressed interest to invest and set up industry in Pakistan’s financial capital, Karachi.

Syed, who is on a visit to Japan, made these remarks while briefing investors at a KMC stall at the International Expo organised by the Bank of Tokyo, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

He said that more than 150 Japanese companies are participating in the international expo. The Board of Investment and the KMC have set up a stall from Pakistan, he added.

The administrator of the KMC said that many Japanese companies are already operating in Karachi, playing a part in the transport, automobile and heavy machinery sectors.

Syed also said that vibrant efforts were being made to improve the infrastructure of the metropolis.
