LAHORE:

A consumer court issued notice to the owner of Amanat Traders for February 28 in a suit seeking damages of Rs239,800 for the sale of a defective roller to be used in a photocopy machine.

Petitioner Abdul Rehman said he had purchased the roller on December 13, with the assurance that it would be replaced if it was defective. He said the roller stopped working after a few days and the respondent refused to replace it.

Rehman said he suffered loss of business due to the defective roller. He sought a refund of the Rs1,800 cost of the roller, Rs38,000 for loss of business and Rs200,000 as damages and litigation expenses. Respondent M Amanat said that said he had told the petitioner that the product would neither be returned nor replaced. He said the bill of sale indicated that policy. He said he would fight the case.
