As many as 106 animals were sacrificed, their meat cooked and then distributed, on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi, by a landlord in Chananian, a nearby village.
For Haji Saifur Rehman, the landlord, it is his way of celebrating the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh) birth. He has been carrying out the sacrifice for seven years “but this was the highest number of cattle – buffaloes, cows and goats – sacrificed”.
Rehman told The Express Tribune that he started with one animal. “I do it for to please Allah and no one else,” he said, “If I could, I would sacrifice a hundred cattle everyday.”

The animals were “prepared” for the sacrifice. Pieces of red cloth were put around their necks, and then they were walked to the venue where they were sacrificed.
Rehman said that hundreds of degs were prepared for which 20 maunds of onions, one and a half maund of ginger and two maunds of garlic were used.
Preparations start after Fajr prayers, says a village resident.
“Dozens of men start preparing the spices so that everything is ready by lunch time,” he says. Sufi Latif claimed, “People living in the villages nearby don’t prepare any meals today. Everyone comes here.” The people then go to a milad.
