Consumer court: Marble shop told to pay up

Consumer court orders Al-Rahman Marble Shop to pay Rs17,800 damages to petitioner for selling substandard tiles.

A consumer court on Tuesday ordered the Al-Rahman Marble Shop to pay Rs17,800 damages to a petitioner for selling him substandard tiles.


Petitioner Javed Iqbal said he had purchased marble tiles for his house and paid Rs7,800 to the shop owner, Hafeezur Rahman.

He said Rahman deliberately delivered him substandard tiles.

He said when he approached Rahman with a complaint, he abused him and also threatened him with dire consequences. He prayed to the court to direct Rahman to pay him Rs20,000 damages. The court directed Rahman to return the Rs7,800 to Iqbal and Rs10,000 in damages.
