LAHORE:

Justice Sheikh Najamul Hasan of the Lahore High Court said on Saturday female judges and lawyers were proving their worth in the judiciary. He said they were more devoted to their duty than their male counterparts.

He was addressing the concluding ceremony of a capacity building training course designed for female civil judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA).

He said the female judges and lawyers he had come across did not lack knowledge or commitment to the cause of justice.

He urged female judges to develop the habit of prompt decision-making, saying that it was the most important consideration in dispensation of justice. He said the LHC had started training female judges prior to the training of male judges as some of them were facing problems in discharging their duties. He said there were a total of 125 female civil judges in the Punjab.

PJA Director General Justice (r) Tanvir Ahmad Khan and a representative of trainee judges, Raheela Omer, also spoke on the occasion.

Punjab Advocate General Ashtar Ausaf Ali and Lahore High Court Registrar Sardar Ahmad Naeem too attended the ceremony.

The judges attending the course were from Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan.
