KARACHI: A Muslim cleric was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Karachi on Sunday, Express News reported.

Prayer leader Rafiqul Khalil of Alamgir Mosque was going from Korangi to his residence in Bahudarabad in his car.

When he reached Shaheed-e-Millat Road, gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on his vehicle, killing him instantly. The driver remained unhurt.

During the initial investigation, police were caught in an argument over which police station the area falls under.

Earlier on Wednesday, most areas of Karachi remained shut a day after the attack on Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat's (ASWJ) Karachi chief claimed six lives.
