Holiday season: GCUF celebrates Christmas

Vice chancellor stresses the need for inter-faith harmony.

An event was arranged at the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) on Monday to celebrate Christmas.


It was organised by the university’s Christian Students’ Community. Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir Hussian presided over the event.

He urged the students to respect the minorities and their rights. Stressing the need for promotion of interfaith harmony, the VC said that Islam taught its followers the importance of protecting minorities.

He urged the Muslim students to live with the minorities without any differences.

The vice chancellor called for spreading the message of brotherhood, equality, justice and ending prejudice.

Father Iftikhar Moon, Begum Pervez Rafique, Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi and faculty members Dr Ifithar Hussain Bukhari, Dr Farhat Abbas, Aftab Chattha, Zahoor Calvin, Khurram Shahzad and Afzal Akram attended the event.

The VC later cut a Christmas cake and also presented the GCUF official song. The gathering later said a collective prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan.

The university will remain closed for winter vacations till December 30, the university spokesperson said.
