Early on Thursday, Malik tweeted from his official twitter account that he will not be able to make the trip on the proposed dates since he has to attend a conference on the other end of the continent in Turkey.
“Pak High comissioner India was informed in the morning that I will not be able to visit 11th to 13th as I had to be tripod meeting in Turkey.“
The trip is now being pushed forward by a couple of days, he tweeted.
“I will not be able to go to India and now new proposed dates are 14 to 16th Dec. An official hand out will be issued tomorrow in this respect.”
The interior minister though did not forget the gracious offer made by his Indian counterpart and thanked him for the hospitality extended.
“Grateful to Mr Shinde for his kind gesture to invite me to celebrate my birth day in Agra. Having unable to go on 12th now I will go on 14th.“
Indian Home Minister Kumar Shinde and Malik are expected to discuss how to bring into effect the visa agreement on the trip.

Mr Malik was due to come on a personal visit, he would have been warmly welcomed and felicitated and great care would have been taken to gather up all mineral water bottles and have them removed. The problem arises when someone purports to come in the name of "Pakistan". Now we have no issues with "Pakistanis", but we do have a few with "Pakistan". Frankly we find it offensive when it is suggested that someone in the name of "Pakistan" is coming to visit, like for example the "Pakistan" criket team. I dont know if I am making any sense, but I am trying to get a handle on why I oppose contact with "Pakistan".
@India's Comedy Circus:
It's hilarious -- I could not help laughing at your sarcasm. Someone rightly suggested: the hard-core terrorists, criminals, mullahs and their ilk are most afraid of being the butt of jokes. We should turn these guys into the world's laughing stock.
Dr. Malik had worked really hard over the last one year and deserves a holiday in the Taj Mahal. All of you should embrace the reality that he can shut your mobile phones whenever he wants. There was no electricity, no water, no security and now there is no mobile phone in Pakistan as well. Thank you Dr. Sahab, we really deserve this treatment after voting for you in the name of Benazir Bhutto.
Mumtaz mahal would be disappoint.
We Indians are crying our lungs out. My neighbours and I have started to fast to urge Pakistan's most eminent personality to step on our soil. Why are you doing this to us, Sir, by postponing your visit? The country is in a state of deep shock and grief at your postponement!
Don’t worry; wait for the next one, Adiala jail will serve you better than Taj Mahal!!
Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! I sense a whiff of Pakistan spring! Power of digital media!. hum
Rehman Malik would you like to explain that either you shall celebrate your 61st birthday on your own expenditures,and how many times you have celebrated your birthdays since 2008 in Pakistan and abroad,or on the poor and indebted Pakistan's expenditures????? In other words you want to see Taj Mahal hotel from inside where Ajmal Qasab conducted terror attack and you also want that Taj Mahal hotel has to be closed for the other Indians for one day as you do in Pakistan with the Pakistani nation but never forget it that Indian government would never like to do so.......
Do we need this guy?
Malik Please... !
Wow and this is news!
