Illegal reappointments: Respondents issued notice in PU case
The petitioner’s counsel argues that reappointment of respondents deprived eligible candidates of their lawful right.
LAHORE:
Justice Aminuddin Khan of the Lahore High Court issued notices on Wednesday on a petition challenging the appointment of Punjab University’s vice chancellor, registrar and 63 other officials. Petitioner Muhammad Yousaf submitted that all 65 officials were reappointed after their retirement in violation of merit as well as a Supreme Court judgment against the hiring of overage bureaucrats. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the reappointment of the respondents was not only a violation of Supreme Court directions but also deprived eligible candidates of their lawful right. The judge sought replies from the respondents within two weeks.
