A consumer court issued notice on Saturday to Brain Telecommunication for December 14 in a suit seeking damages of Rs300,000 from the company for allegedly not refunding Rs6,000 security deposit after disconnecting a telephone.
Petitioner Muhammad Sharif told the court that he got a Brain Telephone connection from its office located at Allama Iqbal Town where a telephone number was allotted to him against a security deposit of Rs6,000.
He said he used the phone for three years and then requested the company to disconnect it.
He said he asked the company to return the security amount which the company first delayed and then refused to do.
He asked the court to direct the company to return the security and pay Rs300,000 as damages for mental torture.
Brain Telecommunication deputy manager Kashif Minhas told The Express Tribune the petitioner had been told that the security amount was non-refundable as per the agreement.
He said we asked the petitioner to submit an application to get a refund as a ‘favour’ but he never did so.
